(More customer reviews)charged it and the external speaker came to life as soon as it came off the usb cord. so i think the person above got a dud. will be using mine with headphones, but not the stiff ones that came with it. no screen, so you have to shuffle manually through files to hear what you want. cheap but the sound is fairly good.
